Living Fully - Formerly known as Victorious Ministry Through Christ - Canada (VMTC-Canada)
Victorious Ministry Through Christ (VMTC) finds its inspiration from Luke 4: 18, 19: "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
Bondages and Barriers
Bondages
When a boat or ship is tied to a dock or a wharf the size of the rope used depends on the size of the boat or ship being tied. A rowboat could easily be secured with a 1/4 or 1/2 inch rope. A larger vessel will need a larger rope until a hawser inches thick may be employed. As we go through life we have experiences that are hurtful. One such harmful experience can attach to us in a way that a huge ship is attached by a hawser. Other experiences may have only small attachment but if repeated over time the attachment can become unbearable. We call this attachment a bondage. Attachments can happen or develop between you and experiences, people, places, or things. Unless these bondages are cut or broken you go through life dragging these with you.
Barriers
As your might assume from the title "Bondages and Barriers" there are certain barriers that make the removal of bondages difficult or impossible. At one time in my life I was quite afraid of heights. I was in the process of building a two story barn designed to be taken apart and moved if necessary. I built a section of the roof and put it in place over the second story. All the work was done from the secure floor that was supported by the first story. The portion I built was 4 feet wide, 20 feet long, and 25 to 30 feet high. From the floor I climbed onto this narrow portion of roof in order to install shingles. When I launched myself from the stepladder onto this narrow roof a wave of fear and panic overwhelmed me. I clung spread-eagled across the 4 foot span frozen in place. Wave after wave of panic and fear swept over me. After about 10 minutes I was able to begin to pray and slowly my faith replaced my fear. Finally, the barrier of fear was overcome and I was able to proceed with the shingle job. To illustrate that the barrier was truly and fully overcome, at a later point in my life I was able to take a job as a roofing laborer for 10 months and have no trouble at all with fear of heights.
